Today after the show ended and the actors went backstage, the principal of the school was talking to the kids. He said, "Now that we've clapped for the actors, lets give a hand for the people who do all of the important work (looks at me), actually the one person. The people behind the scenes never get enough credit." An audience of 800 kids then looked at me and applauded.
While I don't agree that I do ALL of the important work, I do agree that we never get enough credit. It is much more often than not that even the people closest to the show don't even recognize the work I do. I am in this career for something different than the glory. I'm fine with the actors in any show I work on being in the spotlight because my satisfaction comes from other areas. That being said however, it did feel really good to have a little recognition today.

The Monday from...
I can't believe today. Too much happened for it not to be funny.
Blizzard
scraping off car with no gloves
Lizzie 5 min late
forgot the bag of props
Allan 5 min late
rear windshield wiper broken
Elise 10 min late
Took the wrong on-ramp
Had to stop at the store to buy new props
Flat tire
Huge dent in back of van
Snowing while waiting for AAA
It is now 10:30 AM
Firestone has to special order our tire, but we have to drive to Ogden
Drive to Ogden on the donut tire
Realize the drivers side mirror is broken
Show up at a school that is NOT ready for us
Do a show in a gym full of 700 kids
Go back to Firestone and wait 40 minutes while they change the tire
Drop off the actors, go home, and wait for this day to end.

If it had just been one of these things it would have been frustrating, but all of them just made us laugh. The day ends with a mystery. The van has a broken mirror, back windshield wiper, flat back left tire, and dent in the back...but not a single scratch. How did this happen?
It was long and crazy, but at the end of the day the thing that annoyed me the most was paying $6.50 for 2 eggs and some pancakes.

Worse than Yeshiva?
Its hard to imagine a show worse than the one I described at the Jewish Yeshiva. According to Allan however, the last show we did on Friday was just that.
Picture this:
Instead of a Jewish School, we were in a Drug Rehabilitation Center...in Provo.
Instead of the 5-8th graders we were used to, these were high school kids.
Instead of rambunctious behavior and yelling...dead silence.
You can also picture me laughing in my little corner.
I feel that since I'm back in Utah and no longer traveling around, that there really isn't anything to post about anymore. I might not be going to new and interesting locations every day, but at least my job is never boring.
